How It Works
Learn how Via Aeterna tracks Catholic parish Canon Law compliance and how the scoring system works.
The Process
Submit a Report
Users submit reports about parishes that may violate Canon Law. Reports include details about the incident, category (Liturgy, Doctrine, Discipline, or Other), and severity level.
AI Review
Each report is analyzed by AI to assess validity and score the incident. This helps verifiers prioritize and assess the claim.
Community Verification
Verified community members review and approve or reject reports. Approved reports affect the parish's compliance score.
Score Updates
Each verified report reduces the parish's compliance score based on severity. Users can view scores to make informed decisions.
Scoring Matrix
Parish scores start at 100 and decrease based on the severity of verified incidents:
| Severity | Penalty | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Critical | -25 points | Serious liturgical abuse, grave doctrinal errors |
| High | -15 points | Significant disciplinary issues, liturgical irregularities |
| Medium | -8 points | Minor doctrinal concerns, procedural issues |
| Low | -3 points | Cosmetic issues, administrative concerns |
